What is the difference?
Wellness Careers explained
Just because someone is a personal trainer, nutritionist or therapist does not mean they are a Wellness, Health or Lifestyle Coach.
We believe clients deserve a unique approach to their own personal Health and Wellness goals and someone to help them attain these goals. Wellness, Health or Lifestyle Coaches learn to work with clients to determine and attain these goals in a more rounded and holistic approach.
A coach begins with the goals in mind and begins with questions around the clients expectations of wellness; what is important and the path the client envisions to achieving their goals. If not certain, a coach can help build these expectations.
A therapist may want to know where the client has been but a Health, Wellness or Lifestyle coach will focus on where the client is going. A Personal Trainer may give you a workout routine; a nutritionist may prescribe an individualised diet; but a Health, Wellness, or Lifestyle Coach sees both of these elements as part of the bigger picture of the clients "whole" wellness. After your qualification, you will work with your clients knowing that getting to the goal will not happen all at once, but a little at a time, and that long-lasting results are what matter most.
A Health, Wellness or Lifestyle Coach will work with their client the "whole way" to help define wellness on their own terms.
A coach is someone who uses their knowledge helping others explore their goals and ambitions, and then help achieve them. This may be in many areas of life, including health, fitness, emotional or spiritual evolvement. Coaches take on the role of a leader who helps others set goals in their lives. Coaches are there to guide, motivate, encourage and teach.

Get Excited to Do what you Love!
Fitness Instructors and Fitness Coaches work with clients on predominantly their exercise. They help clients having difficulties finding motivation to become active, achieve a specific fitness goal, or help clients that feel overwhelmed by "healthy eating". If you are the person who enjoys helping clients in the gym; working with a wide variety of isolation and whole body exercise, increase lean muscle mass and helping to give an accountability system to achieve physical goals and/or sustain a weight loss/management journey then you want to become a fitness instructor and/or a Fitness Coach.
Wellness Coach - Is this for Me?
The Move Academy Wellness Coach Program is for individuals looking to work in the industry but do not want to become a personal trainer. We will teach the fundamentals of movement, anatomy and nutrition so that you can discuss and coach your clients through these aspects as well as further knowledge in understanding the factors that influence health and fitness, the scientific basis of health promotion, balanced diet and nutrition, communication, coaching, and how to be able to best help clients in all aspects of their lives.
Why Become a Health Coach
"I got my personal training cert first, followed by the Health Coach Diploma. I think that they all compliment each other. The exercise and human body knowledge combined with how to understand people's behaviour was very valuable. I am treating the "whole" person when I work with my clients so I think we need the most tools we can to be able help them." Christine B
Health Coach or Lifestyle Coach?
Health coaches are individuals that want to be more than a personal trainer, or already have a personal training qualification that they wish to add further qualifications to. We combine the knowledge for individual movement and exercise with further programming and coaching to help you develop individualised strategies for improving your clients health; exercise and eating.
Lifestyle coaches focus on the individuals entire life and all six pillars of health and wellness. This area focuses on personal growth, professional and social growth as well as the health and exercise aspects of life. Life coaches help to identify a person’s passion and purpose in order to create an awareness around what drives that individual so that goal-setting can be personalised.

Difference Between a Health Coach and Lifestyle Coach
Though many similar skills and applications are used in both lifestyle and health coaching, they remain separate with one building on the other as further skills are learned. Lifestyle coaching may incorporate areas of focus representative of Health coaching, such as teaching stress management tools and implying the importance of healthy habits like diet, nutrition, exercise and sleep. They can overlap, but keep in mind that lifestyle coaching is more focussed on personal and professional goals while health coaching is more physical motivation and condition related.
